Health Savings Accounts (HSA’s)

health savings accounts are rising in popularity as insurance premiums and deductibles rise. HSA’s provide a tax-deductible savings vehicle for paying qualified medical costs such as deductibles, co-pays, and prescriptions.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA)

Its (also known as a flexible spending arrangement) is a special account you put money into that you use to pay for certain out-of-pocket health care costs. You don’t pay taxes on this money. This means you’ll save an amount equal to the taxes you would have paid on the money you set aside. This is a use it or lose it plan, so employees need to carefully determine their qualified expenses for the upcoming year. There are also limits to the amount an employee can contribute to the FSA per year. Finally, there is a Dependent FSA which can be used to increase savings limits to cover additional qualified dependent expenses such as day care, braces, education, etc.
